We see one of the greatest manifestations of the Trinity in the Bible, on that beautiful day when Jesus appeared at the River Jordan, where John the Baptist was Baptizing those gathered.
It begins when John sees Jesus approaching, and announces Jesus for who He Truly is:
John 1:29 -34 – “The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world. This is He of Whom I said, After me comes a Man which is preferred before me: for He was before me. And I knew Him not: but that He should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bear record saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove and it abode upon Him. And I knew Him not: but He Who sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon Whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He which baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I saw, and bear record that this is the Son of God.”
Now when Jesus tells John to Baptize Him, John argues that it is not he who should baptize Jesus, but Jesus to Baptize him.
Matthew 3:13-15 – “Then came Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad Him, saying, I have need to be baptized of You, and come You to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becomes us to fulfill all Righteousness. Then he suffered Him.”
Upon hearing this Truth spoken by Jesus, John baptized Him in water. It is then that we witness that beautiful and Glorious moment when the entirety of The Godhead is revealed to all present.
Mark 1:9-11 – “And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the Heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him: And there came a Voice from Heaven saying, You are My Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.”
Habakkuk 1:6 – “For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.”
I then was reminded that the great patriarch of the Hebrew people, Abraham, was referred to as ‘the Arab of the Chaldees’. The Lord brought Abraham up out of Ur of the Chaldees (Genesis 11:31)to become His faithful servant and seed for a great and chosen people.
I began to wonder if we, The United States of America, a nation brought up out of the many nations of the world, to be a beacon of freedom, a nation to be founded on Gods ethics, to uphold the Word of God as sacred, and to stand besides Israel in Her times of needs, have fallen to the point that the Kingdom of Judea had fallen in the times of Habakkuk.
We are warned in Habakkuk 2:15-17, Woe to the Drunkards:
“Woe unto him who gives his neighbor drink, who puts your bottle to him, and makes him drunk also, that you may look on their nakedness! You are filled with shame for glory: drink you also, and let your foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD’s right Hand shall be turned unto you, and shameful spewing shall be on your glory. For the violence of Lebanon shall cover you, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all who dwell therein.”
In Habakkuk 2:18-20, Woe to Idolaters:
“What profits the graven image that the maker thereof has graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his works trusts therein, to make dumb idols? But the LORD is in His Holy Temple: let all the Earth keep silence before Him.”
As we look at these two woes, we can certainly find way to many correlations with ‘American’ society today. Alcoholic beverages deemed a necessity at many gatherings, with no concern about the results of intoxication. Images on TV and internet displaying the flesh as normal, even too our youth. Homosexuality being taught in our schools as good and correct. The pursuit of wealth, money, and the accumulation of ‘things’ as being the purpose of life. The dismissal of the mention of God in schools. These are just a few examples as to how our once great and God fearing country has walked away from what God intended us to be.
As we further see in Habakkuk, his prayers to God for mercy, and the LORD delivering the righteous and condemning the wicked. Comparing this to our current condition, I must wonder, just how many will be actually be deemed ‘righteous’ by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If the TRUE, born again believer in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified, does not wake up, get off the fence, take a stand for what is right, and for God Almighty Himself, then I fear we may too become like Judea of Habakkuk’s time. While for us, our Chaldean’s may not come in a military manner, but in an economic and political manner.
For the Lord brought us, the citizens of the United States of America, up out of the world – as He brought Abraham up out of the Chaldees. So may the Lord bring our Chaldean invasion and defeat from those very nations that we came from.
